Transfers are upon us....

I will be staying in Moorpark 2nd ward (my personal preference between the two) and Moorpark first ward will be getting a new set of missionaries. Sister Hiatt is off to Ventura to train once again, and Sister Dixon will be my new companion starting tomorrow. We were in the MTC together so we already know each other and we will be follow up training one another!!

I love second ward. Jessy will be getting baptized August 31! He's had embraced the gospel so much, he even came with us to an investigators lesson in first ward last week and bore his testimony about the book of mormon. He's talked about how he is thinking of going on a mission and going to BYU!

Also in second ward we are teaching to friends named Matt and Eddy, they both accepted the invitation to be baptized. They are quiet kids (so it's hard to know what they are thinking at times) but they have progressed tremendously. Sister Hiatt and I joke that we only teach High school boys ha ;) But they were both saying how they want to read the Book of Mormon more and so they have a goal to do a chapter a day, Eddy got work off to come to church and he said he saw matt reading the Book of Mormon on their work break at Mcdonalds.

The Akinas are one of my favorite member families in 2nd ward. They are the mission leaders and they have 4 daughters, one of which got her mission call and will be leaving in October.

I'm excited to be working strictly with 2nd ward because there is so much member support and I know the work will pick up even more than it did last transfer. On four separate occasions people from the pulpit have complimented us and encouraged the ward to let us teach their friends. It is great! Yesterday brother Akina came into relief society and had Book or Mormons for anyone to have on hand to give to a friend, so many wanted one he had to go back and get another handful!

We had a referral done the street from an elderly couple in our ward, which we have tried a few times to no avail. We went by Sunday during the short time we had to proselyte (7 hours of church can be time consuming;). We call them the "No Names" simply because we don't know their names. Their next door neighbors have always had their garage up when we would go by and I felt like we should talk to them but never did. When the No Names didn’t answer and I saw the "garage door up" neighbors riding up their driveway on bikes, I said, "sister Hiatt lets go talk to them." They are a very nice family: Jericho and Eva Traxler. They have 5 kids from 22 to 7. We talked to them for an hour! It was one of those visits where it feels like 20 minutes because it was so natural. WE discussed the church and talked about modern day prophets, the book of Mormon, tithing, fasting, and the church auxiliaries. It was great! The father was raised catholic, didn't like it and became born again. The mom is Christian. The dad said he was very open, and they had been talking about wanting to get their family going to church again. Through their sons football league they know two member families so we are set on fellowship! They said they would come to church next week (the dad has work however, but said "oh, 12:30? I could probably take my lunch then...") In that hour we had 5 new investigators! Which was our goal this week, and we had 0 right before going over there.

I love this mission stuff. It sure is hard, but I'm so often rewarded with the satisfaction and joy of seeing people grow and learn in the gospel. It truly is a great work!

I am excited for this next transfer and can't wait to see what Moorpark has to bring me and sister Dixson.

I love you are tremendously. Remember to feast upon the words of Christ. I love the scriptures and I love the opportunity I have to study from them daily. I gain knowledge and receive so much direction from them. The mysteries of god truly can be unfolded to us like Nephi promises.

I KNOW this is the Lords work, I am trying to learn how to become the lords missionary- the missionary HE wants me to be, not the missionary I want to be.

It's amazing how quickly you love and the blessings and miracles that come about while on the Lord's errand. The miracles ALWAYS involve other people, they just don't realize it’s a miracle- anyway another story for another week.

I love my savior and I love Moorpark and I love you Utah!
