What sums up a week? the lessons, the spirit, the rejections, the tiredness, the good nights rest, the prayers said, the prayers unsaid, scriptures read?
Pretty much missionary life has its ups and downs, but doesn't everyone's? what I’ve realized is that the more I try to help others lives become better the less I think about myself and the more happy I become. People tend to see their divine potential. we are quick to forget the love god has for us. when I try to lovingly "pound" that into someone’s head ;) it sinks a little bit deeper into my heart.
Hymn 228
you can make the pathway bright
fill the soul with heavens light
If there's sunshine in your heart...
...you can live a happy life
in this world of toil and strife
if there's sunshine in your heart
and your soul will glow with love
from the perfect light of love
If there's sunshine in your heart today
My father in Heaven loves me. ME. Sister SNOW of ALL people. He knows me. I never want to forget that. Life without that knowledge is dark. But scarier than the dark is that our natural eyes get accustomed to the dark. At first the light may hurt. "The guilty taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center" (1Ne 16:3). It may pain our eyes for a moment but will open the real world to our view. the truth. "Truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come"(D&C 93:24) and "whatsoever is truth is light" (D&C 84:45)
"The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is governed, even the power of God who sitteth upon his throne, who is in the bosom of eternity, who is in the midst of all things." D&C 88:13
Richard G Scott said the scriptures can illuminate truths that break forth like little packets of light (something to that effect). I love the scriptures and the truths found inside of them. I can't keep to just one book. I am in the old testament, doctrine and covenants, and book of mormon.
Now, back to the love of god theme, I’ve got going on here. there was a scripture this week I found that I really enjoyed and reminded me of one of my favorite scriptures in the book of mormon. I shared it with a man named robert last night. We weren't planning on stopping by but we were in his neighborhood and I felt like we should go there. walking up I felt like I should share these two scriptures. he was home (first small miracle) and busy. but we were able to share them with him.
"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of god that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him: FOR HE CARETH FOR YOU." 1Peter5:6-7
"Come with full purpose of heart, and cleave unto god, AS HE CLEAVETH UNTO YOU." (Jacob 6:5)

I testified that God does love him and not to forget that. He thanked us sincerely for the reminder. He had read the 2 verses we left with him a month ago, and we set up a time to come back this week. the real miracle of the event though was not only was god able to use us to help someone else, but through ministering to them, I was able to be helped and reminded as well. as I testified to him of his father in heaven love - a fact I knew to be so concrete- I was gently reminded by the spirit that god feels that way about me as well. no matter what. "that love never changes, it is simply there" said, President Thomas S. Monson in his last general relief society address.
Danni's baptism has been pushed back till her mom gets out of jail, which they got the word should be in 45 days. Ray is taking lessons, reading, and loving it. He committed to live the word of wisdom, and has read 2 nephi... TWICE just to make sure he really understood the Isaiah chapters. It's news like THAT that really gets you excited as a missionary.
We are praying this week to find a family to teach. Your prayers would be helpful as well.
I know that we have a loving heavenly father and a loving savior that are cheering for us. we must not give up. simply give in. give your heart to him. it’s something that must be done every day. the earlier in the day the more joy I seem to have. the later in the day, and perhaps the bigger the lessons I learn. but most importantly at the end of the day, remnants of the bright light and love of god are burnt into my soul and I know that I am a daughter of god. do you?
