I
traveled back in time and got to spend a day in Moorpark this past week. We had
two exchanges and one of them I got to go with Sister Woodland in moorpark 2nd
ward. I started my mission in that ward and it was amazing going back. Not just
because I got to see everyone, but I received a witness that the work of God
simply always and will move forward. Once I leave an area and become
preoccupied with other people, I can be assured the Lord is still taking care
of his children that I left.
We had lunch with
Jessy Andrade! He is planning on serving a mission and is firmly planted in the
gospel. it was wonderful to see and to catch up with him and Sister Toliver. It
was crazy knocking on doors I had knocked on a year before. There's one
teenager I'll call Travis. we taught him last summer and he has been off and on
with the missionaries. Sister Woodland (who is awesome) told me they had had a
hard time getting a hold of him. I figured since I was there I’d try to get in
contact and set up a time. I was told he wants to be baptized but won't because
he can't tell his parents. they will be mad and disappointed. As I studied that
morning for him the story of King Lamoni and his Father came to mind. I LOVE
that the scriptures can be applied to us. I shared with sis Woodland how we
needed to share that story with him. Travis needs to know HE CAN be king lamoni
and stand up for his new belief and tell his parents. They may be mad, as king
Lamonis dad was, but though HIS example, they WILL gain a desire to have what
he haves. That's what I wanted to tell him.
We tried calling
throughout the day but played phone tag. Finally at 7pm we got ahold
of each other. we said we were studying for him and we have a scripture to
share with him, "could we come by?" "Actually We're just about
to head to mutual at the park, could you come there?" So we did. and what
a tender mercy for me. I got to see EVERYONE. I saw Matt and Eddie and Sister
Akina and Laurel, and Anthony. it was so wonderful. The ward truly is
amazing and has nurtured these newer members. All three of them are planning on
serving missions! Matt just opened up his papers.
We had the lesson with
Travis and it went really well. It was great to see the smile in his eyes as he
was surprised we told him this righteous king lamoni reminded us of him. He was
lifted up and we committed him to ask God if NOW is the right time for him to
be baptized.
another great Miracle I
saw was here I simi with Sister Hardman from Moorpark 1st ward. We were walking
down a street just knocking every few houses and we knocked on one door. We
introduced ourselves, the blonde, California middle-aged woman said she was
busy, she had her mom staying with her,
"OH, is she in
from out of town?"
"No, actually my
dad just passed away recently"
We bore testimony of
Gods eternal plan for us and our families. We told her we learn of many things
about the afterlife in the book of Mormon that can bring us peace. She teared
up quite a bit. We gave her with a book. She told us she was very grateful we
stopped by, we each gave her a hug, said a prayer and went on our way. It is a
privilege to be at the right place at the right time to express god’s love to
one of his children.
We're having a baptism
tonight. It’s a philippino couple named Luz and Leo, they are super great and
they have a 20 month old daughter. they have been taught by the missionaries
here in simi for 3 months. they actually will go to another ward in the stake,
they were just coming to our ward because they have a cousin and her family
that go to ours. Luckily we've been able to work close with the other ward and
they will have people there at the baptism tonight to welcome them in. :)
Well, That's all I’ve
got for now.

I Love the gospel and I
love that the Lord has established HIS church once again on the earth. It
brings peace, solace, empowerment, understanding, and healing to all who
partake of his living waters.
Love you all,
