This week has been
good. we had many lessons for still being in meetings. It's the start of a new
transfer so lots of logistics have been looked over. WE are over 7
companionships this transfer of the 14 sisters we have worked with 10 of them.
We will have about 2 exchanges a week and I am looking forward to them. We
leave them with a 15 minutes message on exchange and so the sister training
leaders all got together Friday to come up with a message. It is about
reminding the sisters of god’s purpose for them. he wants us to have successful
missions yes, but he is creating and shaping us, the baptisms are just a bonus,
really this is for THEM to help them "prepare to meet god, (Alma 34:32)
After the meeting the
6 of us went out to dinner. The parking lot was really full and we drove around
it a few times and got a lucky spot.
as we left dinner I
started talking to a dad in the parking lot whose car was next to ours.
"I'm LDS." "What ward are you in?" "Ah, I haven't gone
since we moved here from Utah. We go to a Baptist church sometimes now." I
had some conference talks in my purse so I was able to take a few out and let
him pick one. he took, "finishers wanted" by pres monson. he
mentioned that the elders stop by every once and a while. so they are not
hidden less active. but I was so grateful for the brief opportunity I had to do
my part and help this son of god come close to Christ. It really is all in the
little things. Even the parking spot was a factor that the hand of god touched
to enable us to run into this dad!
I have been reading
some great talks lately I’m obsessed with. they are both by dallin h oaks
talks. one is called, "desire" and the other, "the challenge to
become" both are great counsel.
joesph has a baptismal
date for sept 20. he is still recovering from surgery but we told him with his
faith and prayers the lord will make it possible for him to reach that date.
Keep him in your prayers. He is a cute old man. he wants to be baptized and during
our lesson was encouraging his tenet Brenda, who sits in on the lesson, so
search and learn for herself.
we had a lesson with
julia (17) he dad may bring some opposition down the road, but she is very
prepared by the lord. she says she begins her day with a 15 minute prayer to
talk to god. her home life is not that great, I am glad that I am trying to
give her the thing which will help most in her life!
we decided to start a
"miracle report" for our sisters. once a week for the sisters
in our stewardship. so we have them text us Saturday a miracle they saw that
week and we read them all in a voicemail and send it out. it’s so encouraging
to hear of the great things going on with the sisters. our hope is this will
help them catch the vision of missionary work, feel more unified as sisters in
the mission, and be a way to interact more often with them.
all is good in Simi!
