The Mission has changed me!

I know say nice things in my sleep. Sister Mapa (pronounced mop-ah) informed me that I was sleep talking last night and said very enthusiastically, "Let's pray!"

ok then...

so I am in Agoura Hills. It is a veeeeeery nice place in the Lord's vineyard. VERY different from Santa Maria. The town is predominately Jewish so it has been an adjustment talking to people- their barrier is Jesus Christ, not modern day revelation like Christians.

this is the first time I have lived in an apartment with other sisters (there's another companionship with us). Last transfer I was in the basement of members which was great. and before that an apartment with just me and my companion.

COOL FACT: Me and sister Mason (my MTC companion SWITCHED PLACES) she is now in MY old area with MY companion and I am in HER old area with HER companion. She tells me her dad follows my blog. Hi there brother Mason!!! You're daughter sure is great. I hear great things about her from the people I meet.

So for Halloween sister mapap and I switched name tags....ha.
There apparently are many people in the film industry in our ward. I keep hearing about one member who wrote despicable Me. have yet to meet him.

There is an investigator named scarlet that we saw, which was a highlight. she is a mom of 2 boys and she said she hadn’t read so we read 1Nephi 1. She asked great questions and we are excited to see her this Friday.

a 17 yr. old boy named brad we just started teaching came to church this last week. The acting ward mission leader brother hart (he is the 2nd councilor in the bishop rick) had us teach the Sunday school lesson. so we geared the whole thing toward brad and we had 12 members there to help out.

Sister Mapa is Tongan and from San Jose. then the Agoura Hills 1st ward sisters are sister Proctor and sis Klemm. the former went to culinary school and is from Seattle, the latter from Germany and has been serving on temple square.

I still have half a cold which is annoying! I never fully got better from being sick 2 weeks ago.

I love reading the book of mormon. I just finished the war chapters in Alma and I read half of Helaman last night. There is a scripture in proverbs that pretty much sums up those chapters.

proverbs 25:28
"He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, without walls."

When we sin and do wrong things we are doing evil upon ourselves. Often times we drink our own damnation. you see it over and over again with the Nephites in the Book of Mormon. They forget they need god and decide they don’t want rules. but cities without walls are weak and give way to their enemies. righteous men like Moroni would strengthen the land PARTICULARLY the places that were the weak spots. we to must be aware of our temptations and follies. When we humble ourselves god WILL give us the sufficient strength to overcome our enemies.

Helaman 13:6 "Nothing can save this people save it be repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ, who surely shall come into the world, and shall suffer many things and shall be slain for his people"

Life is hard enough without us making it harder for ourselves. humbly and faithfully look to God and save yourself.

He is the way.

He is the Truth.

This I know to be true

I was reading in helaman last night about how nephi (helamans son) was told he could pray for anything because the lord knew he would not ask anything contrary to gods will. it spoke to me. not that I can ask god for anything and it will be done, but, I felt him tell me-he approves. He knows I will not ask him for anything that is against his will, and that is very comforting.
then it proceeds to talk about power. and how god will give nephi power. I felt as though god was telling me I can have that- I know I can. I am a representative of Christ. I'm beginning to wish as Alma did- that I could be an angel and confound men, and declare to them that they have a savior! And that they can return to live with their heavenly father on the conditions of repentance! That their life can be full of joy and that there is so much more for them, that families can be together forever, that the book of mormon is the word of God, that Thomas S Monson is Christ’s prophet here on earth!!

love you all,

Sister Snow

ps. Happy b-day to Anna!
