STARR GOT BAPTIZED!!!!!!
She was a woman I taught in Moorpark and sister Dickson just sent a picture of her in her baptismal white. there is nothing quite like the feeling of hearing this good news. I may have done a fist pump in the middle of a public library.
So update I'm being transferred...Again. ha. But I know I will be where the Lord needs me. I have loved being in Agoura, the members are phenomenal. We had a combined third hour meeting on missionary work and everyone is pumped up.
I will be transferring to Ventura 2nd ward. (Every transfer of my mission I’ve served in a "second" ward). I will be white washing (so good thing I've had some practice) AND I will be training a brand new missionary. I won't know who until transfer meeting tomorrow. I am excited! it is a humbling opportunity, and I hope to be everything she needs me to be. ALSO on a side note I will be serving in the ward that my mission president lives in, so I will probably see him a lot more.
Sister Higgins (last companion in Santa Maria will be Here in Agoura with sis Mapa, AND sis Hiatt (My trainer) will be in agorua as well in the first ward. Lots of changes coming.
Updates: so roman has come to church THREE times in a row. We are going to his house so I can say goodbye today. I am leaving him in good hands and hope to see him baptized soon.
We had an amazing lesson with a less active. She has had a hard life: lots of trails. She is going through more. She had an epiphany that trails are opportunities to rely on heavenly father and to grow "I'm going to change how I pray!" she said. So we invited her to say the closing prayer, which was wonderful. She asked for forgiveness for being bitter and asked for direction. It was a miracle. This woman is always so pessimistic. Sadly, we went back 2 days later on thanksgiving and she was saying how she's not grateful for anything, "You have interesting timing..." she said. On the mission you know that timing is intended and god is guiding us, "I was writing a facebook post about how I’m not grateful for ANYTHING and I was just about to push post when I heard a knock at the door and got up to see who it was, and it was you two. Maybe I won't post it."
We saw sally on thanksgiving ( a new investigator) she had no family and the members she’s staying with were out of town so she was home alone with the dogs. It was amazing to see the difference in her countenance from the less active we came from. Sally was positive and optimistic. She was counting her blessings without us asking her to. She is wonderful. We gave her a book of Mormon and she accepted it graciously and said she would read it.
We went to brother Lees for thanksgiving dinner. But before we did we called Roman. He seemed a little sad, we asked how his thanksgiving was- he said he just stayed in. Our hearts broke. We drove to the lees, they let us box up some food and we drove to Mulholland (where he lives which is about 10 minutes anyway) and dropped him off food. He was so happy to see us. He lives in a little trailer home. I was glad I was able to do just a little act of kindness for him .
I know my savior lives. I am excited to approach this Christmas season as a missionary. I and thankful that the Lord in mindful of me. He is also mindful of you.
ALMA 26:37 "Now my brethren, we see that God is mindful of every people, whatsoever land they may be in; yea, he numbereth his people, and his bowels of mercy are over all the earth. Now this is my joy, and my great thanksgiving; yea, and I will give thanks unto my god forever. amen."
Omni 1:26
"And now my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, the Holy one of Israel, and partake of his salvation and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer you whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved."
Have a wonderful thanksgiving.
I am sooooo thankful for the knowledge I have of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and to share that message with others, particularly this week with the opportunity we had to teach sally. We can track all day long, but the most effective way to find people to teach is to meet people through the members.
Love you all,
Sister Kaitlin Snow
